Am I too old for braces?
If you have ever looked in the mirror and thought that you would like to straighten your teeth, then, the answer is ‘no, it’s never too late’. The good news is that there have never been as many orthodontics options for adults and there is a wide range of choices from the classic metal braces to invisible aligners that are barely seen.
Here are some options that you could go for:
Metal braces are the most traditional method. The metal bracket would be glued to each tooth and an archwire will be added to link them. The orthodontist would tighten them from time to time. It’s probably the cheapest option if you are not self-conscious about showing your braces.
Ceramic braces are very similar to traditional braces, but instead of using metal, they are clear braces that blend into your teeth. They are a bit more expensive than metal braces but can easily change your smile within months.
Lingual braces, also known as incognito braces, are a modern and invisible alternative to conventional braces. These braces are hidden discreetly on the back end of your teeth and are suitable for all age groups.
Invisible braces (also called Invisalign) are a comfortable way to straighten your teeth. Its custom-made and removable aligners are designed to move your teeth little by little. It can be used to treat mild to complex teeth straightening problems and it’s recommended to wear it between 22-24h per day. If you are concerned about other’s seeing your braces, this is one of your options as they are virtually invisible from the outside.
When the treatment is completed, it is recommended using retainers, which will ensure that your teeth keep straight after the orthodontic treatment.
